TONY MEMBRINO: Driver

Birthdate: April 8, 1989

Birthplace: Waterbury, CT

Residence: Berlin, CT

Marital Status: Single

Children: None

Tony Membrino is a third-generation driver and a rising star in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Since he burst onto the short track racing scene, the 27-year old Berlin, CT native has been making waves on and off the track as a determined competitor and a fan favorite.

As is true with most successful race car drivers, Tony comes from a racing family. His grandfather, Tony “Jap” Membrino, is a pioneer of racing in the Northeast. Tony’s father and uncles became standout drivers early on in their careers and ran in highly competitive divisions at tracks all over the Northeast.

In 2004, Tony got his start in racing driving Quarter Midgets at Silver City Speedway in Meriden, CT - the same way that current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star, Joey Logano, got his start. In two short years, Tony proved to be a quick learner, claiming victories in 4 different classes at race tracks in and out of Connecticut.

Tony took his career to the next level in 2008, and stepped into a full-size race car at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT in the DARE Stock division. Once again, he proved to be a quick learner; becoming track champion within 2 full-seasons.

In 2011, Tony made the move to open-wheel competition in the SK Light Modified division. In 4 full-seasons of competition, Tony claimed multiple victories and championships among Stafford Motor Speedway, New London-Waterford Speedbowl, and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, laying claim as the most accomplished SK Light Modified driver since the division's inception in 2006.

Whether it’s full fenders or open wheels, tight bullrings or high-banked speedways, Tony Membrino is ready and eager to take on and triumph over the next challenge.
